ACTING PRESIDENT STEPS ASIDE – OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW LEADERSHIP

Byron Bay FC is forever grateful for Acting President Jay O’Harae for stepping into the breach in season 2024, with former President Ben Roche needing to stand down due to international travel with Football Australia earlier in the year.

Jay has overseen a busy season, with over 700 registered players from Miniroos, Youth, and the men’s and women’s programs. Jay has been supported by a dedicated Executive Committee and a vibrant General Committee and is grateful for the opportunity. However, he believes it’s the right time to step aside and focus on his business, farm and building projects.

All BBFC Members are invited to attend the 2024 AGM at the Byron Bay Services Club Anzac Room from 6 pm, Monday 25 November 2024. All positions on the Executive, including the President, will be vacated, and nominations taken in the evening.  If you feel you could contribute to the Executive or General Committee – please let you interest be known on the evening. We welcome everyone to be more involved in our great community club.

See below, Acting President Jay O’Harae,
note to the Byron Bay FC Community.

"After careful consideration and evaluation of the year that was and the events in it, I am writing to inform you that I will NOT be nominated for the upcoming season as President of Byron Bay Football Club nor any role within the Byron Bay Football Club.

I do understand this will come as a surprise and shock to some members at the Club however recently, I have found myself pulled in too many directions all of which has taken its toll both professionally and personally. The people and projects I hold close to me are not getting the attention or dedication they deserve which includes the football club. This has been an extremely difficult decision however I feel it is necessary.

When I took on the role of President, I was excited about the opportunity to help shape the future of the club and its members. However, the scope of the position has proven to be much more demanding than I anticipated. I am no longer able to give the role the time, energy, and leadership it truly requires. The club deserves a president who can fully dedicate themselves to the role, and I feel it’s in the best interest of everyone for me to step down.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Board, the coaching staff, the players, and all those who have supported me throughout my time in this position. It has been an honour to serve the Club, and I remain passionate about its success moving forward. Thank you for your understanding and I am confident that the club will continue to grow and achieve great things under new leadership."
