Miniroos Football - Ages 5 to 11
2025
Miniroos is entry level football for players aged 5 to 11 years old (must turn 5 in 2025 to register). The focus is on fun and developing skills in a non-competitive environment and is a great starting point for kids who want to try a team sport.
Training is once a week at the Byron Bay recreation grounds in town
Games are played on a Saturday morning on a home and away basis against clubs in the local area (Bangalow, Lennox, Mullum, Pottsville etc)
All girls teams are offered in all age groups or girls can play in the regular mixed teams
From 8 and above an optional SAP program is offered for players who wish to progress their football with higher level training and more challenging games
Kids are placed in age grades based on the age they are turning in 2024 ie: turning 8 this year, will play in a grade 8 team

Mini Roos Coaching
Byron Bay FC is a volunteer run club and miniroos teams are coached and managed by a volunteer parent and is very rewarding, it is a great way to get involved in your child’s sporting activities and get to know them and their friends better.
If you are interested in coaching, please click here
*Include: Your Name, Ph, Child’s name, Team Age Group.
You will be emailed further details how you will be assisted. For example all 6/7/8’s coaches will do training session with everyone together, not broken into teams. The training often finishes with a game focusing on ONE skill they have learnt that day/last two weeks. There is plenty of coaching support. From ages 9 and above, the teams can train independently and Ben is available for advice and support as requested.

Team Organisation
Once the player registration period is complete (Registrations close 28 February) the club allocates players into teams. We do our best to place players with some friends but generally cannot guarantee every friend request that’s made. Each team must have a coach and a manager and as a volunteer run sports club, we do rely on parents to fulfil these roles. A muster day will be held in April where players find out their teams, and team organisation is sorted out. Please note that all player fees must be paid by the muster day for players to be allocated into a team.
Any team or friend requests can be submitted by completing Miniroos Team request form
2025 Muster days
Muster days are our kickoff for the season where we gather all the kids and parents together for the first time at our home ground, Byron Bay recreation fields in town. To receive your team player jerseys each team is to have allocated Team Manager and Team Coach. This can be worked out on the day. The parents can then work out their team organisation and communications - coach, manager, preferred communications medium if it isn’t established already.
